Revance RHA® Collection of Dermal Fillers
Lines and wrinkles form for many reasons. Some are caused by repeated facial movements that crease or fold the skin over time, called dynamic wrinkles. Other signs of aging are due to the natural loss of collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin, called static wrinkles. Revance RHA® collection of dermal fillers is the first hyaluronic acid filler to address dynamic wrinkles in addition to static lines and volume loss.
Our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Kevin Bounds, offers this revolutionary line of injectables. RHA®, or resilient hyaluronic acid, uses the latest scientific advancements to formulate a durable synthetic compound that closely resembles the natural hyaluronic acid found in the joints, skin and eyes.
How Do RHA® Fillers Work?
The RHA® Collection changed the dermal filler game in Europe in 2015 with a hyaluronic acid gel designed for dynamic wrinkles for natural facial expressions with reduced wrinkles. Revance achieved FDA approval for the collection in the United States in 2020 for dynamic wrinkles and folds, making it the first of its kind.
RHA® fillers are made with a gentle manufacturing process with reduced cross-linking in the gel. This method helps the hyaluronic acid remain in the tissues and move with the face, providing anti-aging results when the face is at rest or in motion. These fillers are excellent for minimizing nasolabial folds that extend from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth.
Previous hyaluronic acid fillers address static wrinkles and folds and don’t accommodate facial movements; this is the first dimension of injectable treatment. Restoring volume is the second dimension, and the third includes hyaluronic acid fillers that address static expressions that create lines around the nose and mouth. RHA brings in a fourth dimension of dermal filler treatment by addressing dynamic wrinkles caused by repetitive movements that wrinkle the skin.
The RHA® Collection breaks into dynamic wrinkle treatment and offers improvement for both types of wrinkles and volume loss. The resilient compound is designed to adapt to facial expressions and movements with a unique combination of strength and stretching ability that allows the hyaluronic acid to meet the anti-aging needs of patients.
Types of RHA® Dermal Fillers
Three hyaluronic acid fillers are FDA-approved as part of the RHA® Collection by Revance:
- RHA® 2: This product is injected into the mid-to-deep skin tissues to improve dynamic wrinkles and folds that are moderate to severe. The hyaluronic acid in the filler stretches, bends and compresses with the skin’s movements to reduce wrinkles during facial expressions and when the face is at rest. The compound adapts to the repetitive stress of muscle movements.
- RHA® 3: This filler treats moderate to severe dynamic wrinkles and folds. The substance is injected into the mid-to-deep dermis (skin) to integrate with facial movement and provide long-lasting, durable results with hyaluronic acid in the tissues.
- RHA® 4: This product is injected into the deep skin layer to the superficial subcutaneous tissues. RHA® 4 improves severe, dynamic wrinkles and folds for more comprehensive treatment.
The RHA® Collection is available for adults 22 and older with moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive facial expressions. These fillers were designed with distinct patient needs in mind, including deep nasolabial folds.
RHA® Results
The Revance line of RHA® fillers offers results that last up to 15 months, making it the longest-lasting injectable available for these signs of aging. RHA® injectables are safe, durable and effective because the specially formulated hyaluronic acid closely resembles the chemical makeup of your natural hyaluronic acid. No delayed adverse reactions were noted in clinical studies.
Hyaluronic acid fillers offer immediate results as the compound is introduced into the skin tissues. Patients with RHA® injectables can enjoy rapid anti-aging improvements for up to 15 months, and maintenance treatments can provide continued results.
Only an experienced, knowledgeable and qualified healthcare professional should inject RHA® dermal fillers, such as Dr. Bounds who has extensive training and understanding of the facial anatomy.
